Access For All

At Sedgefield Racecourse, we want every guest to feel at home. That’s why we do our best to ensure easy access to all areas of the course.

We’ve incorporated a number of features, which we hope will make your visit to us more comfortable. These include:

  • Accessible Parking - spaces are located via our main car park entrance off Racecourse Road. We have numerous accessibility bays which can be multipurpose as wheelchair bays and five dedicated wheelchair accessible bays. Please note these are available on a first come first served basis.
  • Orientation Tours - spectators with accessible needs can access the course 15 minutes before the gates open to allow them and their carers to orientate and familiarise themselves with the facilities. To organise this, please contact the racecourse office 48 hours in advance on 01740 521925 or email info@sedgefield-racecourse.co.uk.
  • Accessible toilets are available across the course.
  • Two lifts on-site.
  • Sunflower lanyard scheme - please ask at the main reception for your complimentary lanyard.

Please note many of our paths and main areas are tarmac, though some areas will require you to cross grassed areas. Please be aware of changing ground conditions in wet weather and notify one of our stewards if you require help.

Please also be aware that the only external covered viewing is located in the Grandstand and Paddock stands and can only be accessed via terraced steps. In the event of rain, there is cover in the bars all of which include a TV screen.

We do advise that you bring waterproof clothing and an umbrella if rain is forecast, particularly those using wheelchairs who may experience a delay in reaching a covered area.

We welcome assistance dogs and have water bowls available at the main office.

Personal Assistant Tickets

We offer personal assistants free admission to the racecourse when accompanying a paying guest with accessibility needs.

Please email info@sedgefield-racecourse.co.uk at least 24 hours in advance with your name and details of the fixture you wish to attend to arrange these tickets.

Personal Assistant tickets can be claimed by bringing in proof of accessible needs on the day of racing e.g. Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance (AA) or Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP). Personal Assistant Tickets will be available to collect from the entrance on arrival.
